Leitz Rüdesheim – Riesling Trocken 75 cl.

Weingut Leitz Rüdesheimer Trocken is a German white wine made from 100% Riesling. The grapes are grown on fields in Rüdesheim in the western Rheingau – probably the Rheingau’s most famous and recognized wine town. The area around the town is dominated by the Riesling grape and only approximately 12% of the area is planted with Pinot Noir. The dramatic, south-facing slate slopes, which are reflected in the gentle flow of the Rhine, produce slender, mineral wines with lots of life and nerve.

Colour: Light straw gold.
Smell: Cool, mineral style in the smell. Green apples as well as a bit of peach and a hint of lychee.
Tasting notes: Crisp and mineral on the tongue too, with apples again but also mirabella and green herbs.

Serving suggestion: Enjoy it slightly chilled, e.g. with light meat or fish – pikeperch perhaps!

Johannes Leitz took over the family winery from his father in 1999, having been in charge of the winemaking since 1985. Under Johannes’ ownership, Leitz has only gone one way – up! The quality has increased from good to world class and they have managed to expand the fields with some of the best parcels around the town of Rüdesheim.

The hillside west of and immediately around Rüdesheim is one of the most magical terroirs in the entire world for the production of wines from the Riesling grape – and thus one of the most magical terroirs in the entire world for the production of white wine!

This is where we find, among others, the parcels Berg Schloßberg, Berg Rottland, Berg Roseneck and Berg Kaisersteinfels, all four of which enjoy the highest possible classification and recognition in Germany’s hierarchy.
