This is handmade Sancerre from a family producer who, for a modest additional price, rises considerably above the qualities of the volume producers.
Sancerre is a cozy town located on the banks of the Loire River, and the town has also given its name to the Loire’s most famous white wine. Here are made some of the most juicy and crisp white wines on sauvignon blanc.
At Domaine Roger et Didier Raimbault in Sancerre, viticulture has been part of the family for 400 years. As a result of a father / son merger in 1996, the domain now amounts to 17.5 hectares in the municipalities of Verdigny, Sury and Vaux.
The wine has an intense bouquet with citrus, green gooseberries, elderflower and freshly cut grass. This is sauvignon blanc precision with excellent purity, crisp acidity and aromatic excess without excessive fullness or fatness.
Should be enjoyed in large white wine glasses at 8-10 °, preferably in the company of light meat, lean fish, not for aged goat cheese, for sushi or seafood.
