Quinta da Valeira – Rosé Port 50 CL 19,5%

Douro Valley Port – Portugal

This port wine in the rosé version is a charmer with the sweet profile of the port wine and the refreshing, fruity drinkability of a rosé wine. It can be enjoyed chilled on its own or included as an ingredient in a drink.

Quinta da Valeira is a small, family-owned house, which on the quinta of the same name has almost 10 hectares of vineyards in the butter hole between Cima Corgo and Douro Superior, a few km from São João de Pesqueira. I 430-500 m.o.h. grown a variety of the classic port wine grapes on impassable, slate-clad mountain sides.

Quinta da Valeira rosé has been created on the basis of touriga nacional, touriga franca and the excellent but rare sousão. The grapes are fermented for a short time with the skins, until the desired color is achieved, after which the must and pulp / peels are separated. The fermenting must is then allowed to bubble further before the fermentation is stopped with the addition of grape spirit, thereby preserving the natural sweetness of the wine.

A short aging in the context of port wine gives a very fruity wine without storage aromas.

Aroma and taste are dominated by red berry aromas with floral action. The taste is mild and the absence of tannic acid and oxidized aromas makes this port wine particularly user-friendly to the delight of any port wine-scared fellow citizens.
