Great notes in taste and aroma of oak, dried figs, spices and sugar cane, vanilla and prunes. A nice, fruity, full-bodied and powerful rum.

Expression Brut de Fut is an exceptional agricultural rum, matured partly in new oak casks and partly in ex-cognac casks and bottled without cold filtration so as not to contaminate its aromas and flavours. On the nose, sweet notes of candied exotic fruit and honey dominate with light spicy hints, while on the palate it is warm and soft, with exotic and peppery aromas with a hint of cocoa.

The aroma is dark and characterized by coffee, chocolate and pepper. The taste is spicy, intense and actually starts sweetly, but ends in a dry and spicy bomb of a finish. Again, I find it incredible that this product was created in just two years. Impressive and very tasty! This tastes, excuse my French, really good! As with Karukera Rhum Agricole L’Expression 45, we are deeply impressed here – actually more impressed! 24 months in oak barrels – ONLY 2 YEARS – in this case tastes like something much, much older. It is very difficult to say what you would guess in a blind tasting, but I think I would guess some rum aged over ten years… Both me and Lauge are very surprised by the harmony, balance and interaction between rum and cask . They are skilled at Rhumerie Karukera. We appreciate the rum hat!

About Karukera
When Christopher Columbus set foot in Guadeloupe in November 1493, it was in a place the locals called Karukera. A town was later founded here – a town where the island’s oldest distillery now produces a rum which bears the historic name, Karukera – one of the better rums in the whole of the French West Indies. The warm climate ensures rapid maturation with development of the rum’s aromas before it is stored in the distillery’s own cellars.
