Hamilton Russell Vineyards – Chardonnay 2024 75 cl.

Hamilton Russell Vineyards – South Africa

Hamilton Russell Vineyards Chardonnay 2024 comes from the cool Hemel-en-Aarde Valley in South Africa and is an elegant and expressive interpretation of the grape. This vintage is characterized by subtle minerality, bright acidity, and depth.
Tasting Notes:
The nose is complex with floral notes, alongside hints of pear, lime, white peach, and apple. On the palate, the wine is precise and structured, yet smooth and elegant. Its dry minerality and lively acidity create a balanced and sophisticated tasting experience. The finish is long and dry, with clear minerality and fresh acidity.
Winemaking:
The Chardonnay is barrel fermented and aged for 9 months in 228-liter French oak barrels from François Frères. The blend includes new, second- and third-use barrels, as well as older oak, adding complexity. Production is limited to 2,945 cases of 12 bottles, with a low yield of 1.5 tons per hectare, reflecting the challenging growing season.
Vintage Challenges:
The 2024 growing season was particularly demanding due to the unusual storm on September 24–25, 2023, which affected flowering and resulted in record-low yields for Chardonnay. Additionally, disease pressure throughout the season was unusually high.
