Diageo’s Special Release 2024 has hit the shelves, and that means plenty of exciting whisky! Benrinnes is one of those distilleries we don’t see too often, but despite its rarity, it has a huge fan base. This 21-year-old gem has been matured in a wide variety of casks: refill casks, American oak, European oak, and rejuvenated casks with charred ends. Sounds wild? It is! The whisky is the oldest in this year’s Special Release and has been nicknamed Grand Crescendo. Bottled at cask strength: 55.4%.
Colour: Amber.
Aroma: Fruity notes of baked apple, pear, peach, and toffee.
Tasting notes: A full-bodied and rich whisky with plenty of sweetness and a long, spicy finish.
Serving suggestion: Best enjoyed neat, perhaps with a drop of water to really unlock the sweetness.
