Warre’s Port – Otima 20 Year Old Tawny 50 CL

Douro Valley Port

Otima is new thinking within port wine, and already the beautiful and different bottle type signals that they want to do away with the slightly stereotypical notions about port wine. The clear bottle gives the contents an inviting, almost copper-like transparent color. If you serve it slightly chilled, you get a delicate and fresh enjoyment. The fermentation process has lasted for 48 hours and has taken place exclusively using the naturally occurring yeast cells, and the fermentation has been stopped by adding 77% pure grape alcohol in the ratio one to four. Thus, a large part of the natural residual sugar content is preserved. The age indication is 20 years, which means that the average storage of different vintages gives a style like a 20-year-old Tawny, and the actual storage is done on oak barrels (pipes) in the cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia. Dark, golden brown (tawny) color with slightly smoky shades with a soft taste of walnuts and dried fruit. The innate sweetness never gets disgusting, but feels full-bodied and very delicate.

Vinification:
Fermentation stopped after 48 hours by adding 77%
grape alcohol. Stored exclusively in oak barrels.
Tasting notes:
Lightly smoky tones with a soft taste of walnuts and
dried fruit as well as a full-bodied and delicate sweetness.
