Périgord Sauvignon Blanc 75 CL

Wine South West France

The Périgord area is located in the south-east of France between the cities of Bordeaux and Toulouse. Périgord is not only visually beautiful, but the region also scores highly when it comes to cuisine, producing a multitude of well-known French delicacies. A pure Slaraffenland for food lovers.

The area and the producer:
It was precisely in the Périgord area that some of the most important battles took place during the Hundred Years’ War between France and England at the end of the Middle Ages. Today, the area is quieter and a drive through the beautiful countryside reveals aristocratic mansions, beautiful medieval castles, picturesque villages surrounded by impressive sunflower fields and winding vineyards. Everywhere you can see flocks of ducks and geese, whose livers are used for the slightly controversial delicacy foie gras. The goose is a kind of landmark for the area and the wine’s name “L’Oie du Périgord” means precisely “goose from Périgord”.

The wine:
L’Oie du Périgord Sauvignon White Dry is produced from grapes from the area. Vinification takes place according to modern principles. After picking, the grapes are pressed – the must is cooled and the fermentation process begins. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature to preserve the fine taste and fruit of the grapes in the final wine.

In the glass:
L’Oie du Périgord Sauvignon White Dry has a crystal clear golden color with fine green markings. The aroma is fresh with citrus and grape and on the palate the wine is soft, fresh and delicate with plenty of fresh fruit and a pleasant finish.

The wine is a good match for e.g. fish or “everything good from the sea”.

Served at 8-10°C.

The press:
Year 2014
VinAvisen – 5 stars – “An unusually lovely white wine… It smells of green grapes and has a fresh and mild taste with good body and notes of citrus juice. And then it has a pleasantly low alcohol content, which makes it suitable as a lunch wine – e.g. for a good fish dish…” (Week 17 / 2016)
