Vieilles Vignes Pays d’Oc IGP – France
Dry and full-bodied but disciplined chardonnay from southwestern France, which contains the country’s by far the best wines for the price. This wine contains many of the qualities of white Burgundy wines, but at a price where Burgundy is not close to being able to participate.
The grapes are sourced from different high-lying areas, which results in freshness in the grape material and ensures a long growing season, which gives good complexity in the finished wine. Storage on quality oak gives a perfect maturation of the wine and adds gentle, creamy nuances.
Les Mougeottes is an intense and extremely well-crafted chardonnay with expressive citrus, peach and lightly-toasted notes from the storage, kept in check by a life-giving acid freshness.
This chardonnay delivers a superb combination of concentration and finesse that is usually reserved for far more expensive wines.
Enjoy the wine, at a serving temperature of approx. 9-12 °, for hearty fish dishes, for fried poultry, for filling salads or as a hearty aperitif wine.
The wine tastes excellent now, so it is not the wine you typically put in the cellar, although it should probably last a few years.
