Dourthe Grands Terroirs Sauternes 2022 75 cl.
Vin de Bordeaux
The Dourthe “Grands Terroirs” series brings together a number of Bordeaux wines that are very typical of each appellation they come from. In each district, grapes are sourced from top parcels, selected for their quality. Douthes Sauternes is composed of approx. 45% Sémillon, 35% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Muscadelle.
The grapes are hand-picked when they are optimally attacked by “botrytis” (the noble rot). Fermentation takes place separately as the grapes from the different parcels enter the cellar. The wine is put together and matures in tanks for 4-6 months, depending on the vintage. The wine is bottled in its youth and continues its development in the bottle, as a Sauternes should do.
20% Muscadelle 35% Sauvignon Blanc 45% Sémillon
There are complex notes of pickled fruit, acacia and honey in both aroma and taste. The taste is very rounded, with good velor and intense fruit and at the same time very meaty. It ends fresh and delicate. A very delicious and complex Sauternes. Serve it with foie gras, blue cheese, desserts with chocolate, fruit tarts (apricot, peaches), soufflés with vanilla…
The Dourthe winery was founded in 1840 by Pierre Dourthe, and several generations in the same family have since followed each other. The company’s portfolio of châteaux in Bordeaux is today among the most distinguished in the district, and it is also behind one of the most successful wine ranges in Bordeaux: Dourthe N°1. The development has taken place step by step – both the expansion of the number of castles and the entire cultivation and technical part. Dourthe today has state-of-the-art facilities and a highly professional staff, which together guarantee wines that are of high quality in every way.
In 2007, it was decided to join the family company Champagne Alain Thiénot, which brought three more Bordeaux châteaux into the fold, including among others Château Rahoul, Graves. Of other castles that the company currently has at its disposal, i.a. mention is made of Château Belgrave, 5th Grand Cru Classé, Haut-Médoc and Château Pey la Tour, Bordeaux Supérieur.
Today, Dourthe has no less than 8 castles and 500 ha. vineyards in Bordeaux, and the company’s overall goal is to produce genuine quality wines that best reflect both the impressive diversity and the local “terroirs” in Bordeaux.
