Finally, an affordable pinot noir that is neither ambitious nor solemn; Les Peyrautins Pinot Noir is a nice, drinkable mood spreader. Pinot noir is more than just the red burgundy grape; it has been tried all over the world with fluctuating success – most often without! In south-western France, however, the grape has built up its own identity, a more democratic style which, admittedly, exhibits less elegance than in Burgundy, but in return at the same time with a less fragile fruit than that of the hearth.
Les Peyrautins is still silky soft wine at a completely different edible price than Burgundy’s price-sky stormers. The excellent 2019 vintage delivers here a pinot noir interpretation with a healthy core of sweet strawberries, raspberries and a little cloudberry. The structure of the wine is completely seamless, where tannic acids excel in their absence. Moderate 13% alcohol calms the mood and together with the gentle fruit it gives a pronounced easy-drinking wine.
Enjoy the wine slightly below room temperature at 13-17 ° for the light meat dishes, but also for fried salmon or as a nice ‘slubrevin’.
