Albert Sounit Crémant de Bourgogne – Cuvée Prestige Brut 75 cl.

Maison Albert Sounit – Côte Chalonnaise

Albert Sounit’s Cuvée Prestige breaks the sound barrier of what should be possible for a Crémant de Bourgogne!
An incredibly elegant alternative to Champagne. Lots of apple core, citrus, and a hint of rye porridge. Clean and razor-sharp on the palate with a beautiful and dancing acid attack.

A rather intense and well-developed fruit nose with lovely ripeness and crisp herbal spice. Beautiful craftsmanship with lots of finesse and remarkable detail. Rounded, crisp, and aromatic fruit with pronounced delicacy and immediate charm. Crafted in the style of Champagne.

In this dry Crémant from Burgundy, Pinot Meunier is replaced with Aligoté. This gives an extra fresh dimension to the light and acidic fruits, delivering a concentrated and delicious flavor of light apples and citrus that blend wonderfully with the classic French sparkling style. We’re on the dry side here, but thanks to the varied fruit expressions, it’s still full-bodied and pleasant.

From a Danish wine pioneer’s winery in Burgundy

Maison Albert Sounit is located in a more than 150-year-old wine estate in Rully, Burgundy, whose beautiful wine cellars were among the original sites for Crémant de Bourgogne production. The Danish wine pioneer Knud Kjellerup took over the company in 1993, and since then, together with his two partners and the estate’s team, has worked tirelessly to set new standards for quality in the Côte Chalonnaise.

How this Crémant is made

The house’s Crémant de Bourgogne Cuvée Prestige is made exclusively from grapes grown at Sounit’s own estate, Domaine Bernollin, consisting of approximately 65% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay, and 5% Aligoté. The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented using native yeasts. The wine’s fine and persistent bubbles come from the second fermentation, which takes place in the bottle – Méthode Traditionnelle – and the Crémant is aged on the lees for more than 24 months before disgorgement, the process of removing the lees. The law requires Crémant de Bourgogne to age at least 9 months before disgorgement, and thanks to the nearly three times longer aging, Albert Sounit’s Crémant de Bourgogne Cuvée Prestige boasts a very fine and lasting mousse. At disgorgement, a small dosage (0.5%) is added.
