Very intense cherry red color in the glass and with aromas of ripe, black fruit, hints of licorice, spices and tobacco, as befits Tempranillo. Full and intense on the tongue, but also fresh and with great finesse. The year’s conditions, with cooler temperatures and more rain than average, bring a distinctive character with great elegance.

Hand harvested and double sorted in the field and in the vineyard itself. The grapes are cooled to 5º and then undergo cold maceration for a week. The alcoholic fermentation begins with own wild yeast at 15ºC and malolactic fermentation at a cellar temperature of 20ºC.
About Vinedos Milénico
Vinedos Milénico is located on the banks of the Duero River on the outskirts of San Martín de Rubiales between Roa and Peñafiel in the heart of the world famous Ribera del Duero – a region with over a thousand years of wine history. But also a harsh climate with significant daily fluctuations, which forces the vines into a daily rhythm that gives the wine an unmistakable distinctive character
The vines at Milénico grow on steep slopes in a stony soil consisting of lime and sand. They are trellised along the Duero River on the south-facing hillsides in rows oriented to balance the sunlight. The vineyards are located in the middle between the valley and the highlands, in the middle of a special microclimate that naturally protects the vines from spring frosts, and which, together with the poor soil, gives rise to wines that are expressive, powerful, long-lived and unique. The mountain slopes mean that even if the conditions are harsh, their better ventilation and light exposure and less unwanted vegetation will provide optimal conditions for the grapes, regardless of what the year brings in terms of unforeseen weather.
The natural ventilation of the hillsides, the abundant sunlight and the marked contrast in temperature between the midday heat and the coolness of the night are ideal conditions for the perfect ripening of the Tinta Fino grape, which is a variety of Tempranillo acclimatized to the extreme area.
As with other quality producers, the philosophy behind the wines is quite simple, namely to treat the vines with the utmost respect without the use of herbicides or artificial fertilizers, and with minimal tillage.
Only the most perfect grapes are used – first hand-picked outdoors and then again inside the vineyard, where fermentation is started with natural wild yeast based on non-intervention.
The wines are thus created to showcase the best of the terroir where the grapes are grown. The wines must be seen as an honest and realistic reflection of the surroundings and of the desire to turn the grapes into wine in the most natural way.
Milénico’s wines come from six selected hillsides bordering the Duero River. In total, the area is almost nine hectares: Socastillo, Carraroa, Rodero, Solapeña and Valdepila in Agujerón.
