Périgord Merlot 75 CL

Wine South West France

The Périgord area is located in the south-east of France between the cities of Bordeaux and Toulouse. Périgord is not only visually beautiful, but the region also scores highly when it comes to cuisine, producing a multitude of well-known French delicacies. A pure Slaraffenland for food lovers.

The area and the producer:
It was precisely in the Périgord area that some of the most important battles took place during the Hundred Years’ War between France and England at the end of the Middle Ages. Today, the area is quieter and a drive through the beautiful countryside reveals aristocratic mansions, beautiful medieval castles, picturesque villages surrounded by impressive sunflower fields and winding vineyards. Everywhere you can see flocks of ducks and geese, whose livers are used for the slightly controversial delicacy foie gras. The goose is a kind of landmark for the area and the wine’s name “L’Oie du Périgord” means precisely “goose from Périgord”.

The wine:
L’Oie du Périgord Merlot is produced from merlot grapes from the area. The vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks, and takes place according to modern principles. After picking, the grapes are pressed – the must is cooled and the fermentation process begins. In the first days, the grape skins remain in the fermenting must until it has acquired the right color. Fermentation continues at a controlled temperature to preserve the fine taste and fruit of the grapes in the final wine.

In the glass:
L’Oie du Périgord Merlot has a deep ruby red color. The bouquet is captivating with the scent of ripe berries. L’Oie du Périgord Merlot is a harmonious and well-balanced wine that fills the mouth with delicious fruit and finishes with lovely soft tannins.

The wine is a good match for e.g. a good roast or with a selection of cheeses.

Served at 16-18°C.

The press:
