The Glenallachie 10 Years Old Cask Strength Batch #12 70 cl. 59,7%
Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
The GlenAllachie Distillery in Speyside is today renowned for its bold and characterful single malts, and Batch #12 of the 10-Year-Old Cask Strength series is no exception. Since Billy Walker took over the distillery in 2017, the focus has been on crafting whiskies with depth, complexity, and pronounced cask influence, always bottled with natural colour and without chill filtration.
Batch #12 is bottled at 59.7% ABV – true cask strength – meaning the whisky has not been diluted and retains its full intensity. It has matured in a carefully balanced combination of Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks, red wine casks, and virgin oak. The result is a whisky with sweetness, fruitiness, spice, and structure, where each cask type contributes its own distinctive character.
On the nose, it reveals layers of mocha, figs, roasted hazelnuts, honeycomb, dried berries, and a hint of dark molasses. The palate is rich and full-bodied with notes of warming spices, brandied cherries, toffee, Black Forest gâteau, mocha, and grilled honeycomb. Towards the finish, damson plums and molasses emerge, creating a long, powerful, and harmonious conclusion.
The GlenAllachie 10 Years Old Cask Strength Batch #12 is a shining example of how different cask types can interplay to create a perfect balance between strength and elegance. It is a whisky for enthusiasts who value intensity, natural complexity, and the full character of Speyside in its purest form.
