Terra Blanca Signature Series Block 8 Syrah 2017 75 cl.

It is hard not to be impressed by the almost Northern Rhône-like charm of Terra Blanca’s Block 8 Syrah. There is plenty of bacon and smoke, dark berries, tobacco, and leather here – and while the intensity is turned all the way up, it still shows a level of refinement rarely found in the New World. The grapes come from Terra Blanca’s estate vineyard in Red Mountain. The vines are propagated from Syrah cuttings imported directly from the Northern Rhône. The wine is aged for 18–32 months in French oak barrels.

Colour: Deep dark purple.
Nose: An explosion of blueberry, blackberry, smoke, pine needles, bacon, clove, and pepper.
Palate: Dense and powerful, yet sophisticated and supported by a fine acidity. It clearly shows French inspiration combined with a full-bodied and soft American personality. The nuances from the nose carry through into the long finish.

Serving suggestion: Enjoy it slightly chilled, and give it plenty of time in a decanter if drunk young. Try it with boeuf béarnaise!
