Quinta Do Vesuvio Tinto Douro 2019 D.O.C. 75 CL

Symington Family Estate – Douro Portugal

Deep and impressive intense ruby red color in the glass. Inciting aroma with hints of wild berries, stone rose and bergamot. Subtle, smoky and roasted notes indicate an excellent integration of cask. Concentrated and sumptuous in great harmony between power and elegance. Delicious flavors of licorice, plums and a mineral touch, all wrapped in highly polished tannins.

Dark ruby. Slightly closed nose with blackberries, other dark berries and spices. Dark berries, tart cherries, minerality, herbs and fine balancing acidity, subtle toasted notes, dry tannins on the finish, fine potential.

The grapes are transported to the Quinta do Sol winery, where, after strict double sorting by bunch and grapes, they are poured into a funnel and fall into the fermentation tanks. When opening the tank, the grapes are gently crushed so that they burst, but just enough to release the juice. It contributes to a soft, silky texture in the wine. After approximately three weeks on the grape skins, the wines were sent out for malolactic fermentation and finally transferred to new 400 liter French oak barrels, where they spent 13 months.

About Quinta do Vesuvio
Already as far back as 1565 you can find documents where Quinta do Vesuvio is mentioned. However, the great status that the house has only came in the early 1800s, when the Ferreria family took the reins. In 1989, the famous Symington family bought the property – the same family that is also behind the world-class producer Graham’s. Today, 141 out of the house’s 325 hectares are planted with vines, the age of which varies between 3 and 40 years.

The Quinta do Vesuvio estate dates back to the 19th century and has been owned by the Symington family since 1989.

The contrast between the estate’s quotas gives the wines unrivaled structure, complexity and aging potential, as well as the preservation of traditional winemaking methods, which distinguish Quinta do Vesuvio as the only one that actively continues to create its wines on this basis. Certainly a Quinta of enchanting and memorable beauty.
