Premium Aged Mauritius Rum

Solera 5, as it is called coming from the small island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. The island is a little further out of Africa than Madagascar, and has an area of ​​approx. 1,900 km² (Lolland and Falster).

The island has been known by the Arabs since the 900s, but it was the Portuguers who came as the first Europeans to the island in 1505. The Dutch colonized island in 1638, and they named the island after prince morits of Nassau. The Dutch went from the island some decades later. In the 18th century, the island was under French control. The French introduced the first black slaves to produce sugar from sugar cane. In 1810, Britain occupied the island in connection with the Napoleonic Wars. The island was British, and the British retained control until the independence in 1968.

There are several Rome distilleries in Mauritius. Some produce the rumble of the fresh sugar cane juice, also called Rhum Agricole (from the French time), and others use the waste product from cane sugar, called molasses based Rome.

“Gold of Mauritius 5 Solera” is made of a mix of Rome from Medine Distillery and Grays / New Grove distillery. There are only used molasses based Rome and it is the warehouse as follows: 1 year in Ex Bourbon Fade from the United States, 3 years in brand new American oak barrels (Virgin Oak) and 1 year in used portcases from Portugal.
