Waqar Pisco 70 cl. 40%

Chilean Artisan Made Premium Pisco

The Camposano family has practiced artisanal distillation in Chile for five generations with wine made from hand-picked Pink Muscat and Muscat of Alexandria grapes from the small village of Tulahuén at the foot of the Andes. The wine is distilled only once in pot stills and mixed with the fresh mountain waters that irrigate the Tulahuén terroir. The master distillery heats the stills with firewood and cuts into small batches to have more control over the final product.

Light and clean, the nose is like a fresh, minty breeze with notes of white flowers, stone fruit, pear and strawberry. In the mouth, a delicate violet and light ginger notes are layered, smooth with good structure and spicy notes that add more complexity and a long, delicate finish.

Pisco is the national spirit in Chile (as well as in Peru) and Waqar is one of the best examples we have yet found. It is produced at Pisquera Tulahuén in Coquimbo at an altitude of 1100 meters on 100% muscat grown at the foot of the Andes and harvested by hand, exactly as was done when Pisco Waqar was made for the first time, more than 170 years ago. The grapes are pressed and fermented into a wine, which is distilled in traditional copper alembics fired with firewood.

Waqar is probably one of the most awarded piscos around, with gold medals at the SFWSC, International Spirits Challenge, Berlin International Spirits Competition and a host of others.
