Smell and taste
Nose: A tasty blend of bright rye bread with sweet caramel richness with a hint of tangy fruit salad that tickles the nostrils and pleasantly tickles the palate, begging for a taste of the liquid.
Taste: Initial wave of buttery rye bread gives a rich taste and feel from the start. Across the tongue, the tasty blend of rye and caramel combines into a cinnamon and caramel sauce to bring out some fruitiness, mostly apple and pear.
Finish: A tasteful, pleasant and lasting finish.
As the second 2022 Kentucky Owl limited edition, this Kentucky Owl Takumi is sure to be beautiful. The Kentucky Owls master blender teamed up with Yahisa Yusuke on this one. Yusuke is the Nagahama Distillery master blender. Nagahama is a new distillery in Japan, but is already churning out some fantastic single malts. Among other things, they are known for a large keg selection. Blending new and old, Kentucky Owl Takumi Edition showcases Kentucky bourbon through the eyes of Japanese whiskey. The whiskeys used for this are from 4 to 13 years old. The Kentucky Owl whiskey brand was founded by C.M. Dedman in 1879. In 2014 his great-grandson Dixon Dedman revised the brand and in 2017 he released a first batch of rye.
