Del Maguey Wild Papalome is a single village mezcal from San Pedro Teozacoalco, produced from the rare, wild-growing agave Cupreata, which has also been named Papalome, which means “butterfly” in Nahuatl. Del Maguey himself gives this mezcal the predicate “Earthy, dark and delicious” and says that the taste is like sinking into a large leather sofa. And they are quite right that there is something “dark” about it – especially when the mezcal has had some air. A fantastic experience, not only for agave geeks, but for all fans of wild spirits! Bottled at 45% alcohol.
Color: Clear.
Scent: Great scent of cherries, mushrooms and tar accompanied by a (pleasant) note of sun-warmed plastic.
Tasting notes: Black olives, leather and smoked ham.
