It has a pleasant intense aroma of white fruits, spices and a touch of hazelnuts. It has a creamy structure, clean lines and a fresh taste that highlights aromas of pears and apples, as well as notes of citrus fruits such as lime and grapefruit.
Another AXA Millésime possession. Château Suduiraut was acquired in 1992 and after the takeover the château has been brought forward among the leading 1er Crus in Sauternes. It may just be mentioned that AXA Millésimes today i.a. count Château Pichon Longueville Baron, Château Pibran and Quinta do Noval. As a curiosity, it can be mentioned that AXA Millésimes, in the effort to re-position Château Suduiraut in Sauternes’ hierarchy, after the purchase decided not to release either the 1991, 1992 or 1993 vintages for sale, since these did not meet the château’s new standards. An extremely expensive and ambitious decision, which should send a signal to the market about the new times in the property.
Château Suduiraut, whose 90 hectares of vineyards adjoin Château d’Yquem’s northern side, today offers some of the best in Sauternes.
When young, Blanc Sec de Suduiraut offers immediate pleasure. The wine’s bright aromatic expression makes it an ideal wine to enjoy in its youth, compared to S de Suduiraut Vieilles Vignes, which is produced from grapes from older vines. Blanc Sec de Suduiraut is produced from grapes from a specific plot in Château Suduiraut’s vineyards, primarily planted with Sémillon vines. The fine gravel and sandy terroir produces fruit aromas and a beautiful freshness to the wine.
