Cava Nitus Reserva Brut 75 CL

Barcelona – Penedès – Spain – Sparkling Wine

Light golden color. The scent is very clean with lots of fresh fruit. The taste is well balanced with a dry aftertaste.

Most of us are already familiar with the Spanish sparkling wine, cava. The majority of all cava is produced in Catalonia, which was also the birthplace of this wine. The requirements for a cava are that it must be produced according to the Méthode Traditionelle (formerly called the champagne method) from the grape varieties approved for the purpose with a limited yield (1 hl. of must per 150 kg of grapes). Furthermore, the wine must be stored for at least 9 months on the lees and have an alcohol content of between 10.8% and 12.8% at bottling. Bodegas Sojosa was founded in 1985 by Arturo Ramos and Joseph M. Delgado Goma. Today, the bodega produces 1,500,000 bottles of cava, which are stored in the house’s 2,300 m2 cellars. When the winery was founded, they produced exclusively cava, but today they also have a small production of table wine from Penedès.

GOOD FOR THE PRICE
Golden colour. Typical cava nose with spicy petroleum and fat yellow stone fruits. Some sweetness. Good for the price.

RANGE AND FRESH
Penedès is located on the Catalan Mediterranean coast south of Barcelona. Among many exciting, sparkling wines, Cava is probably the best known – not least because the production is four times greater than in Champagne. Brut is the term for a dry sparkling wine, and this is exactly how Nitus is experienced. Rank, fresh Cava with notes of toasted bread, green apples and an acidity that meets the mouth lively with nice dark counterpoint and a finale of grape.

GREAT FOR THE PRICE
Citrus, resin and quince in the powerful nose. Pointy bubbles on the tongue, but the taste is interesting. Citrus, dry bread, pear, a hint of cigar box, good underlying bitterness and well balanced acidity. Interesting wine for food and nice for the price.
THE SUNDAY NEWSPAPER
Spicy taste
Nice aroma of ripe apples. Spicy taste with notes of apples and good acidity.
