Black Tot 40 Years Demerara Rum 44,2% 70 CL

Guyana Single Cask Premium Rum

Black Tot Rare Old Aged 40 Years is something as rare as a 40 year old Rome from Guyana. It was distilled back in 1975! The room is a kind of successor to Black Tot Last Consignment, and although the British navy probably rarely served pure Guyana-Rome (and then at all at this age), we certainly think it is a worthy successor. Dark, powerful and concentrated as few others! The room is, of course, tapped by fadan strength, which in this case has come down at 44.2% alcohol.

Color: Close mahogany.
Fragrance: Close fragrance of licorice, star anise, black pepper, burned oak and molasses. Really many layers! Baker felt cigar smoke and tar. Heavy stuff.
Taste: Superconcentrated with lots of molasses, oak, tobacco, licorice, burnt cinnamon and almost all spices we can think of.

Serving suggestions: should be enjoyed clean.

The name black tot arouses a special feeling alive in history-interested room fans. The name comes from the fateful black Tot Day – July 31, 1970 – who was the day when the British fleet for the last time completed the hundreds of years old tradition with daily dispensations of Rome. At this point, it had gone up to the majority that a daily prey of 7 cl strong Rome (54.5%) was incompatible with atomized submarines and missiles, and from then on the remaining ROM store was filled on stoneware flakons and stored, Only for use in special occasions such as royal weddings or diplomatic events. And so, the fleet pocket was more or less forgotten for decades, until Sukhinder Singh from Elixir Distillers (see below) got your fingers in a couple of the original flakons with the genuine Navy-Rome from 1970. The rare Navy-Rome was tapped under the name Black Tot And most recently, Sukhinder and the team behind Elixir Distillers also created a modern blend, inspired by the old, original Rome.

The blender and decider Elixir Distillers are founded by the two bread sukhinder and Rajbir Singh, which is also behind the shop The Whiskey Exchange. They spend their great experience from virtually all corners of the spirits world to merge the traditional craft with an insatiable hunger after experimenting and renewing. The main focus is just destined at Scottish Whiskey, but also Japanese, Irish and American whiskey and Tequila and Rome have found their way down in Elixir Distillers’ beautifully designed bottles. Among the most remarkable brands we find Elements of Islay, Port Askaig, Single Malts of Scotland and Black Tot.

Originally called Specialty Drinks, and the name changed first to Elixir Distillers in 2017 – but if the two brothers blender and tap whiskey, where does then come “distiller” part in? Well, in 2018, the plans announced to build a new distillery on Islays south coast. The future looks light next to fans of smoke and peat!
