Warre’s Port – Late Bottled Vintage 2009 (LBV) 75 CL

Douro Valley Port

Warre’s LBV is similar to Vintage Port, wine from a single year, but unlike Vintage Port, Late Bottled Vintage is matured longer on casks, namely 4 years. The extra time it has thus gained on the plate compared to a Vintage, makes it softer and more accessible at a younger age. After the actual barrel aging, Warre’s LBV is stored for a minimum of 4 years in bottle after bottling, which takes place without filtration and clarification, and only then is it released for sale – this is the original LBV method, which today distinguishes Warre’s LBV from other port wine producers. imparted far more complexity and flavor. The fermentation process has lasted for 48 hours and has taken place exclusively using the naturally occurring yeast cells, and the fermentation has been stopped by adding 77% pure grape alcohol in the ratio one to four. Thus, a large part of the natural residual sugar content is preserved. The subsequent storage in oak barrels has taken place in Vila Nova de Gaia. Warre’s LBV is incomparably the LBV that has over the years won the most gold medals at various blind tastings. In just the last 10 years, it has won 10 gold medals, 2 trophies and 20 silver medals. No other LBV comes close to this achievement, which is why it is also called the “World’s Best LBV”. The color is ruby red (ruby) and in the nose you can feel the bouquet of dark red fruits and eucalyptus. Fine and soft tannins and spicy shades with a long, elegant finish.
