Warre’s Port – 1972 Colheita Golden Jubilee Port 50th Anniversary Bottling 75 cl.
Douro Valley Port
Only 300 bottles, only in Denmark
Warre’s 1972 Colheita Port is an exceptional port that has been matured in seasoned oak casks in Warre’s cellars for the past five decades.
Chief winemaker, Charles Symington, has personally selected the best cask from 1972 – the year Her Majesty the Queen became Regent of Denmark – for this very limited bottling. As a Royal Court supplier, we are proud to be able to release just 300 individually numbered bottles to commemorate Her Majesty’s jubilee.
Enjoy with various nut, chocolate or caramel based desserts, perhaps with a sweet paté, nutty cheeses.
Or maybe just in a large wine glass in a soft armchair on a cold winter’s day.
When port has fermented for 24 hours, the skins float on top like a little hat (manta).
It is aged in low granite vats (aged) and after 36-48 hours grape brandy of 77% is added. This causes the fermentation to stop.
There is still natural residual sugar in the must (100-120 g/l). At the same time, the port wine will have achieved an alcohol content of 19-20%.
This Colheita has been in casks since 1972 before bottling in November. 2022.
