Silky smooth and rounded
This delicious blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon reveals a wealth of dark fruit aromas. Most prominent are blackcurrant, sweet plums and blackberries, but notes of cherry, baked figs and caramel also shape the elegant bouquet. On the palate the wine is soft, with flavours of smoked dates and a hint of black tea. The silky-smooth and pleasantly persistent finish testifies to a wine with great potential.

Winemaking
The grapes come from carefully selected parcels at Airport Ranch Vineyard in the heart of Yakima Valley, Washington State. Once the grapes are fully ripe, they are harvested. The two varieties are macerated separately to extract the optimum amount of aroma and flavour. Fermentation takes place on the skins for 12–16 days, after which the skins are removed and gently pressed to obtain the last of the wine.
Malolactic fermentation takes place in a mix of new French oak barrels (25%) and barrels that are 3–5 years old (75%). The lees are then stirred twice a month for three months, which helps to give the wine its roundness and natural softness. The wine is matured for 16 months before being prepared for bottling.
About the producer
In collaboration with Airport Ranch Vineyards, we have developed the “The Mark” range, which leaves a clear fingerprint on American wine. The grapes are harvested in the exciting Yakima Valley wine region in Washington State, where 300 days of sunshine a year bring the grapes to perfect ripeness.
The grapes are carefully selected specifically for our series The Mark.
