Savanna Le Must is a rum from La Réunion that combines two styles from Savanna: traditionnel and the powerful grand arôme. Le Must is a blend of the two types of rum, aged up to 9 years in a tropical climate. A complex and exciting rum that expresses Savanna’s identity and will appeal to both the geeks and novices. The rum is bottled at 45% and has no added sugar.
Colour: Dark amber.
Aroma: Beautiful, expressive aroma of juicy, ripe pear, banana and cocoa nibs.
Tasting notes: Nice balance between the fruity and spicy. Notes of tropical fruit, honey and chocolate ganache.
Serving suggestions: We recommend enjoying it neat – but it is now also excellent in cocktails if you feel like it.
In the Indian Ocean, not far from Madagascar, you will find the island of La Réunion, where Distillerie de Savanna produces some of the most exciting and authentic rums of the time. As something quite unique, Savanna ferments both on molasses and the completely fresh juice from the sugarcane. Both parts are supplied by the local Sucrerie de Bois-Rouge, which is located right next to the distillery.
In the portfolio, Savanna has a large number of different expressions, and it is, among other things, the fermentation which helps to define the taste of the rum. For traditional, light rum, the fermentation time is 24 hours, for the agricole rum on the fresh juice, it is 36, and for grand arôme, you are up for about 15 days – during which time it only reaches an alcohol percentage of 3.5! Some of the rooms are bottled without aging, while others are in either cognac, calvados, sherry, and port casks, etc. Everything, even bottling, takes place at the distillery, giving Savanna complete control over quality from start to finish.
