Rowan’s Creek Bourbon 70 cl. 50,1%

Kentucky Bourbon Distilllers

An excellent 50 proof small batch bourbon that is part of Willett’s Small Batch Boutique Bourbon Collection.

Tasting notes: Starts with good spicy, minty notes & when water is added, the nose makes you want to pitch a tent in the woods! Classic caramel and vanilla notes shine on the palate with light cedar and more mint notes dominating the finish.

“Bring your nose to the glass and your nose is treated to caramel and vanilla layered on herbal and floral notes. The mouthfeel starts oily but finishes dry. On the palate you are treated to sweet caramel, vanilla, powdered in floral notes… closing notes of oak and a persistent spiciness.”

About Kentucky Bourbon Distillers
Kentucky Bourbon Distillers is a family-owned company, founded in 1935. The company, located on the outskirts of Bardstown, where, among other things, also finds the Heaven Hill Distillery, operating as both a distillery and an independent bottler. They are actually a relatively large independent bottler of whiskey and are therefore also often called the father of bourbon and rye bottlings. Kentucky Bourbon Distillers’ products are in the Premium/Superpremium category. Most of the house’s whiskeys are usually aged between 6 and 17 years, but some age up to 23 years in new American white oak. When storing in small new 200-litre casks, the maturing process is sped up by approx. factor 2.5 compared to e.g. Scotch whiskey (the same goes for our rum from St. Lucia). This means that a bourbon that has aged for 10 years in American oak is equivalent to a Scotch whiskey that has aged 2.5 times longer, i.e. 25 years in cask.

World-class bourbon
There are currently 14 full-time employees at the distillery, of which four are from the original Willett family, which is however today called Kulsveen. The director Even Kulsveen, who comes from an emigrant family from Hamar in Norway, is married to Martha Willett. Martha’s father was A.L. Thompson Willett, who was president of the company until 1984 and has also been president of the Kentucky Distillers Association (all distilleries in the area). We’ve got the agency on an exclusive selection of Kentucky Bourbon Distillers – both bourbon and rye. In order to be called a bourbon, a minimum of 51% of the content must be distilled from corn – the same applies to rye whiskey (51% rye). All whiskeys are so-called “straights” – a designation that corresponds to single malt, and which must be used when the contents of a bottle come from one and the same distillery.
