J. S. Rasch Wine and Colonial Goods has been selling life’s finer things since 1807. The current ownership goes back two generations.

Loch Lomond Heavily Peated is a strongly smoky Highland single malt that shows the more intense and peat-driven side of Loch Lomond Distillery. The whisky combines clear smoke, peat and a lightly tarry character with the distillery’s familiar fruitiness and soft malt foundation. The result is a whisky with pronounced smoke, while still maintaining balance between sweetness, fruit and oak.
In the glass, it brings peat smoke, burning wood, citrus, sweet malt and a lightly spiced cask note. The ex-bourbon casks add vanilla, caramel and rounded oak, while the peated malt gives depth, warmth and a more robust character than Loch Lomond’s softer expressions. The palate is smoky and full, yet still approachable, with notes of citrus, vanilla, malt, spice and a gentle sweetness that balances the peat.
This is a whisky for those looking for a more pronounced smoke profile than classic Highland whisky usually offers, while still keeping fruitiness and balance. It is enjoyable neat, with a small splash of water helping to open more citrus, vanilla and malt. It also pairs well with grilled meats, smoked charcuterie, firm cheeses, dark chocolate or dishes with salt and gentle sweetness.
About Loch Lomond
Loch Lomond Distillery is located in Alexandria in the Scottish Highlands, close to Loch Lomond itself. The distillery is known for its unusually flexible production and works with several types of stills, allowing it to create whisky styles with very different characters. With both straight neck pot stills and traditional swan neck stills, Loch Lomond can produce everything from light, fruit-forward malt whisky to fuller, smokier and more powerful expressions. Loch Lomond Heavily Peated clearly reflects this versatility: a whisky where the distillery’s fruit-led house style meets intense peat smoke and classic bourbon cask maturation.
Nose
The nose is clearly smoky, with notes of peat, burning wood, light tar, citrus and sweet malt. Beneath the smoke are nuances of vanilla, oak, caramel and gentle spice.
Palate
The palate is full, smoky and malty, with peat, citrus, vanilla, caramel, spiced oak and light fruitiness. The smoke is pronounced, but balanced by sweet malt and soft vanilla tones from the bourbon casks.
Finish
The finish is warm, smoky and medium in length, with lingering notes of peat, oak, citrus, vanilla and light spice. It closes dry, smoky and lightly tarry.
