Graham’s – Six Grapes Reserve Port Special Vila Velha Ed. 75 cl. 19,5%

Douro Valley Port

Deep red and full-bodied Port with a rich, opulent taste and aromas of black fruits, ripe plums, and cherries. Beautiful structure and a truly long finish.

Six Grapes is one of Graham’s original Ports — a wine with a big heart, sourced from the same vineyards that produce Graham’s famous Vintage Ports. As a result, it often resembles Graham’s Vintage Port in style. Six Grapes is bottled relatively young (between three and four years old) to preserve the freshness and power of the wine.

93 POINTS – Decanter
“Supremely Good”
A supremely good reserve (ruby) Port; never the cheapest in its category but consistently outperforms. From grapes grown on Graham’s own estates and aged for two years in wood before bottling. Deep in colour, with opulent aromas. Full of flavour, combining ripe, forward berry and plum fruit with purity and finesse. Just the right amount of tannic grip. Look out for special editions, including Vila Velha bottled as a tribute to James Symington.

“The Flavour Swells”
A powerful Ruby-style Port with classic aromas of prune, cassis, icing sugar, and filled chocolate. The taste overflows with sweet figs and prunes, cherry liqueur, and alcohol. Yes, quite a mouthful – but if that’s what you’re looking for… I like it, and it’s a perfect match with rice pudding topped with Amarena cherries.

About W. & J. Graham’s
Few places in the world are more beautiful than the Douro Valley and the city of Porto. This becomes clear when visiting Graham’s estates in the Douro and their lodge in Porto, which boasts a stunning view over the city. The grapes are grown in the Douro Valley (as required for any Port), and the wine is aged in Porto at Graham’s Lodge.
In 1820, the Graham brothers received 27 barrels of Port wine as payment for an unpaid debt. The sale of those barrels went so well that the enterprising Scots developed a taste for this unique wine. They decided not only to produce Port but to make the very best Ports in the entire Douro Valley. Thus, W. & J. Graham’s was born.
Three centuries of Port tradition and expertise have given Graham’s a strong foundation, built upon values that remain at the heart of the house to this day. The company motto, “Do Not Forget”, reflects this commitment. Tradition, experience, and knowledge are passed down from generation to generation, while innovation continues to play an important role.

In 1882, the young Scot Andrew James Symington joined Graham’s. A few years later, he moved on within the Port trade, but when Graham’s faced financial difficulties in 1970, his grandchildren seized the opportunity to purchase the house. Today, the Symington family holds a central position in the world of Port, owning several of the finest houses. Production is now in the hands of five cousins, all with deep roots in Port winemaking and the Douro Valley, stretching back to the 1600s.
