Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1991 70 cl. 43%

Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Glenmorangie Grand Vintage 1991 is a single malt whiskey from the Highland region of Scotland. Grand Vintage is one of Glenmorangie’s most distinguished series, and here the focus is on vintage 1991. The whiskey has been aged for 26 years and is composed of two casks, both ex-bourbon, of which the whiskey from one was “finished” for more than a decade in Oloroso- sherry casks, and the whiskey from the second more than a decade in burgundy casks. An unusual blend that works amazingly well!

Colour: Deep amber.
Aroma: Apricots, plums and baked apples by the bucketful, as well as star anise and maybe a microscopic hint of truffle?
Tasting notes: On the tongue slightly peppery and very fruity, again with stone fruit such as plums, but also cherries and raspberries. Long, nice finish.

Serving suggestion: Should be enjoyed neat.

Glenmorangie is known for having Scotland’s tallest stills. The tall cauldrons provide increased contact between the spirit and the copper, and this has a marked effect on the taste of the final whisky, which becomes lighter and more elegant. This style is loved worldwide and has undoubtedly helped make Glenmorangie the 4th best selling single malt in the world since 2007.

The distillery was founded by William Mathesen and has just been able to celebrate its 175th anniversary, which it did by, among other things, announcing an expansion. At the moment, the capacity is 6 million liters of pure spirits per year, but with the 2 planned new stills it will probably increase significantly.
