Islay Blended Malt Scotch Whisky
Elements of Islay Sherry Cask is, along with Cask Edit and Bourbon Cask, part of the new trilogy, which will be a regular part of Elements of Islay. It is blended by several Islay distilleries, and is matured in first fill and refill sherry casks. It is bottled at 54.5% to fully show the natural personality and taste of the whisky. Notes of dried fruit and dark chocolate from an Islay distillery on the south coast, combined with notes of citrus oil and smoked haddock from the north coast.
Colour: Dark amber.
Aroma: Like tobacco from a freshly emptied sandalwood cigar box, combined with smoke from Arbroath when they smoke coal, and aromatic notes of lemon oil, ginger root and a hint of menthol.
Tasting notes: Candied orange slices, dipped in dark chocolate, and pieces of crystallized ginger. Muscovado syrup drizzled over ginger cake with dates. Sweet smoke and dried autumn fruits in the background. A fine finish with toffee and dark, smoky tea, sweetened with dark brown sugar. Long, sweet, bold and spicy finish.
Serving suggestion: Enjoy it plain, possibly with a few drops of water.
The Elements of Islay core trilogy includes three terms:
Cask Edit, Bourbon Cask and Sherry Cask.
Cask Edit is a composition – or editing – of refill, bourbon and sherry casks. Rich, smoky single malt from Islay’s south coast fuses with a fresher, fruitier style from the north. Bourbon Cask is matured in first fill and refill bourbon casks. Classic rich barbecue smoke from an Islay distillery on the south coast is combined with more subtle, fresh flavors from the north coast. Sherry Cask is matured in first fill and refill sherry butts and hogsheads. Islay single malt from a south coast distillery brings flavors of dried fruit and dark chocolate, while a north coast distillery contributes notes of lemon oil and Arbroath smokie.
The range also includes a number of single malt bottlings from across the Islay distilleries, as well as our now archived PEAT blend bottlings.
