Cask Edit is a new addition to an already abundant line-up of fantastic whiskeys at Elements of Islay. Edit is a carefully composed whiskey with sherry casks, refill and bourbon casks in the mix, from Islay distilleries in both the north and south. It is bottled at 46% – and as something completely new and quite welcome, it is in 70 centiliter bottles, rather than the old (and all too quickly emptied) format of 50 centiliters.
Colour: Light golden.
Aroma: Pleasant smoky notes hover over a layer of fresh fruit, citrus and pepper.
Tasting notes: Both sweet and smoky, with notes of iodine, citrus, apple and spices.
Serving suggestion: Can be enjoyed neat or in cocktails if you are so inclined.
The Elements of Islay core trilogy includes three terms:
Cask Edit, Bourbon Cask and Sherry Cask.
Cask Edit is a composition – or editing – of refill, bourbon and sherry casks. Rich, smoky single malt from Islay’s south coast fuses with a fresher, fruitier style from the north. Bourbon Cask is matured in first fill and refill bourbon casks. Classic rich barbecue smoke from an Islay distillery on the south coast is combined with more subtle, fresh flavors from the north coast. Sherry Cask is matured in first fill and refill sherry butts and hogsheads. Islay single malt from a south coast distillery brings flavors of dried fruit and dark chocolate, while a north coast distillery contributes notes of lemon oil and Arbroath smokie.
The range also includes a number of single malt bottlings from across the Islay distilleries, as well as our now archived PEAT blend bottlings.
The Elements of Islay range consists of award-winning whiskies. We are proud winners of gold medals for both Cask Edit and Sherry Cask and silver medal for Bourbon Cask from the IWSC (International Wine & Spirits Awards)
