An organic, food-friendly blend of 85% Vermentino and 15% Grechetto, Val di Toro 2021 Maremma Toscana Vermentino Auramaris opens with a brilliant appearance. The bouquet shows almond blossom and orange peel. Although the Grechetto distances itself from the fierce sharpness of the Vermentino, you get plenty of salinity and ashy mineral definition up close. About 11,000 bottles were made.
The Vermentino grape combines pleasant acidity with an original minerality, which is often characterized by a salty touch. The grape is mainly planted in maritime regions such as Maremma and Liguria. Maremma is a part of Tuscany that borders the sea. Wind, heat, sun and salty air together determine the specific character of the wines from Val di Toro.
