Arnaud de Villeneuve Ambré Collection Rivesaltes 1970 75 CL 16%

Vintage Rivesaltes – France

Blend of the best hand-picked Gray & White Grenache & Macabeu grapes from old vines grown on lime and pebbles between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean coast. Aged for 50 years. in oak, with >80% lost to angel share before bottling. Powerful and harmonious with rancio marked aromas evoking dried apricots with notes of turmeric and roasted coffee. Beautifully refreshing with a long-lasting taste. Serve at 15°C and let it breathe in the fine glass, close your eyes and enjoy with a chocolate dessert or as the end of a dinner for meditation.

This wine will be a rich, complex fusion of dried fruit, walnuts, candied fruit, roasted coffee, wood and spice. The complex oxidized aromas and flavors are achieved by exposing the wine to air while it matures.

Arnaud de Villeneuve is a cooperative located in the town of Rivesaltes in Roussillon. It was founded in 2007 when two old, reputable companies, Cave de Salses from 1909 and Cellars de Rivesaltes from 1932, merged. Today, the cooperative counts more than 220 members who supply grapes from a multitude of different terroirs and collaborate on a large and varied portfolio of wines. The most famous are the sweet wine doux naturel and the oxidative rancio. The company’s impressive and carefully guarded cellar still stores wines from the 1930s – and the prices are surprisingly affordable for wine of that quality and provenance.
