Ardbeg Traigh Bhan 19 Years Batch #5 70 CL 46,2%

Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky

From the Ardbeg Distillery itself down to the legendary Port Ellen along the rocky coast, you can find the divinely beautiful Traigh Bhan, the beach known locally as The Singing Sands. The beautiful beach is a well-chosen name for Ardbeg’s most tropical whiskey to date, with 19 years behind it.

This outstanding Islay whiskey is created in a combination of American oak and Oloroso sherry casks.

The aroma entices with small hints of sweet wood smoke, notes of spicy fennel, celeriac and roasted tea leaves. Delve further down and you’ll experience hints of charcoal and lightly burnt toast. A splash of water releases fresh sea spray followed by eucalyptus oil, pine and leather. Salty like the sea on the tongue with medicinal notes, peanuts, pineapple and lime juice. Waves of anise roll over the palate before rich caramel fudge, birch wood, tar and peat smoke hit. Smoky finish in an intense and satisfying aftertaste.

About Ardbeg Distillery
Ardbeg rightly has a very special place in the hearts of many who love smoked whiskey from the island of Islay. The style combines the smoke with a fatness and depth that can be difficult to find at other otherwise excellent distilleries. Ardbeg has won the award as World Whiskey Of The Year four times in recent years and is one of the best examples of what whiskey from the Scottish island of Islay can do. The distillery was founded way back in 1815 by founder John Macdougall and already in 1887 the distillery produced over one million liters of whiskey annually – the most of the distilleries on Islay. It didn’t just go forward, however, and in 1981 the distillery had to close and the 18 employees were fired. Only in 1997 did the distillery reopen and resume production. It went terrifically, and in 2008 Ardbeg won the title of ‘World Whiskey Of The Year’ for the distillery’s ‘Ardbeg Ten Years Old’ – an event that was repeated the following year, when Ardbeg won for their ‘Uigedal’ – and also the year after that for ‘Supernova’.
