Amaro Lucano is an Italian bitter liqueur created in 1894. The recipe has not changed a lot, and thank God – for that is exactly how an Amaro must taste: comfortable bitterness, light sweetness, dark spices and an herbal freshness. As usual, the recipe kept secret, but we know, however, that it contains more than 30 different herbs and is tapped at 28% alcohol.

Color: dark and close, with a brownish cut in the edge.
Fragrance: In the scent, licorice, orange, sage and mint.
Taste notes: In the mouth, Amaro Lucano has a good viscosity and a fine balance between bitterness and sweetness, perhaps with a small overweight of sweetness. There are notes of wormwood, mint, orange scale and molasses.

Serving suggestions: Can be enjoyed clean, over ice or in cocktails.

Amaro Lucano saw the light for the first time in 1894, when Pasquale Vena in the back room for the city’s cookiebakeri found the right combination of more than 30 different herbs. As time went by, the bittersweet herbicor became more and more popular, and in the 1950s, production was tremendously, in order to keep up with demand. The brand is still family owned – today 4. Generation – and the liqueur is still made after the secret recipe from the small bakery in PISTICCI. Besides Amari, Lucano also produces Sambucca, coffee director and Limoncello.
