Quinta do Portal – Vintage 2007 Porto 75 CL 20%

Douro Valley Port – Portugal

Quinta do Portal is synonymous with the Mansilha Branco family, who for generations have owned vineyards at Pinhão, in the heart of Cima Corgo, where they have sold grapes and wine to the famous houses.
The family-owned port house benefited from the legislative changes when Portugal joined the EC in 1986 and it became legal to store and ship port from the Douro Valley itself, breaking up the oligopoly of the big port houses in Vila Nova de Gaia and forever changing the market structure in favor of the smaller producers in the valley.

In the 2007 vintage, the wine is a blend of touriga nacional, touriga franca, tinta roríz and tinta barroca grapes, harvested in the last week of September after an exceptionally long growing season, crowned with a dry but not warm finish that gave phenolic ripe fruit with an unusually pleasant acidity.

Aroma and taste have dense shades of blueberry, mulberry and elderberry with a fine, dark chocolate note and a lively fruit acidity; it’s not just tannins and alcohol that provide the balance; a characteristic of the 2007 vintage.
It still appears youthful, and we predict this vintage port will have a long life with a long drinking window.

Remember to enjoy Quinta do Portal VIntage 2007 in spacious glasses, so that you also get the scent experience.

We recommend a serving temperature of 17-18°.

Like all vintage port wines, it is bottled without filtration, and decanting is therefore mandatory if you want to have a good experience with the wine. This is done in good time before it is served, so as not to lose face in front of the guests…
