Single Malt Whiskey is, as we know it, made from malted barley. Singel Pot still Whsikey, on the other hand, is made from unmalted barley. An Irish invention, from when the English taxed malted barley – they must be said to be a smart move! The unmalted barley carries several nuances of flavor from the barley into the bottle, which gives the very special taste experience you get from an Irish Single Pot Still Whisky.
Walsh Whiskey started as a whiskey supplier back in 1999. A distillery was built together with Italian investors. but after a short time together, the Walsh family (Bernard and Rosemary) and the Italians went their separate ways. They couldn’t agree on why they made whiskey! It actually happened before they released their own whiskey from their own distillery. Now Walsh Whiskey will instead continue production exactly as before, with a lifelong agreement with an unnamed Irish distillery.
As a Family Business, Walsh Whiskey has dedicated their work to reviving the old Irish whiskey tradition and trying hard to get it back on the world map.
