A fresh and humorous packaging, but the wine itself is seriously good!
The Long Little Dog is a typical southern French blend of various grapes, including grenache and syrah, made in a fresh and uncomplicated style with clear references to generic côtes-du-rhône.
The vinification takes place in a state-of-the-art winery with a stainless steel forest, where this wine also spent its life as an infant. After a short bottle storage, the wine is bottled with a screw cap to emphasize the informal tone set with the rest of the festive packaging – both in terms of the bottle and the 6-piece box.
The wine itself has fruity aromas of Provence-spiced, dark fruit with especially blue plum and cherry. There is good freshness and ‘nervousness’ in the springy fruit and a juicy finish that is gentle enough not to startle but fresh enough to hold interest.
Enjoy with all kinds of simple meat dishes served at 15-17° or slightly more chilled if you want it as a juicy cozy wine.
