The Teeling family has been making Irish whiskey since 1782, when Walter Teeling opened his whiskey distillery on Marrowbone Lane in Dublin. Dublin has traditionally been the heart of Ireland’s whiskey production. The history of Ireland’s whiskey production is incredibly exciting and dramatic and is largely connected to the country’s relationship with England, for better or for worse. A total of 37 distilleries had smoke in their chimneys at the beginning of the 20th century, but one by one the distilleries closed and since 1976 there has been no whiskey distilled in Dublin – until now! The Teeling Whiskey Distillery is the first newly opened distillery in Dublin in over 125 years and the Teeling family see it as their mission to bring the art of distilling back to the heart of Dublin!
The tasty whiskey comes from 3 shiny pot stills, named after Jack Teeling’s 3 daughters. 25% of production is dedicated to whiskey of an experimental nature, making Teeling one of the most exciting distilleries to keep an eye on in the future.
