About Maison Delas Freres
Maison Delas Frères was founded in 1835 in Saint Jean Muzols, located in the heart of Saint-Joseph. In 1977, the house was taken over by the renowned Champagne Deutz, and with a good capital injection, all the vinification equipment and the like have been renewed over a number of years, so that Delas Frères today appears as one of the most modern wineries in the Rhône valley.
Delas Frères’ sought-after top wines from the Rhône valley
At Delas Frères, capacity has been expanded to better meet the ever-increasing demand. This has meant that – despite the house’s many holdings of vineyards in some of the Rhône valley’s most famous municipalities – it also buys a certain amount of grapes from the most quality-conscious winegrowers in the areas. It is precisely the large holdings of vineyards that Delas Frères has in the Rhône valley that contribute to the fact that the house has decided that the varying terroirs in the various appellations must be expressed as well as possible in the various wines. One of the reasons for Delas Frères’ great success goes back to 1997, when the young oenologist Jacques Grange was hired. Jacques Grange was born and raised in Burgundy, and throughout his relatively short career he has been a major contributor to the renaissance the Rhône district has had, and he is also the man behind several of the district’s 100 points wines. Since Jacques’ entry into Delas Frères’ cellars, there has almost been a revolution with the wines, and after previously standing in the shadow of great houses such as Guigal, Delas Frères’ recent vintages have joined the Rhône area’s most distinguished wine elite. And not only that – they are also at a much more reasonable price range.
