Port Askaig Islay – Aged 28 Years 70 CL 45,8%

Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Port Askaig 28 Years Old is a Limited Edition Single Malt Whiskey from Scottish Islay, Islay. It is tapped by Elixir Distillers to their popular series Port Askaig, which includes whiskey from a variety of distilleries on the small island. We do not know which distillery it comes from, but Elixir Distillers reveals, however, that it is stored on refill hogsheads of American oak. Tapped at Port Askaig’s favorite strength, 45.8%.

Color: Golden.
Fragrance: Mint and resin at first snus – shortly after comes peat, smoked tea, almonds, pineapple and caramel.
Taste notes: oiled and rich in the mouth. Green herbs, drying and still a mint-like freshness.

Serving suggestions: Enjoy it clean, possibly. with a single drop of water.

Port Askaig is a series of whiskeies from Elixir Distillers. The brand is named after the city of the same name, located on Islays east coast and in hundreds of years has been known as the “port of Islay”. From here and, many smugglers and whiskey fans have sailed over the years, and the name has almost been synonymous with smoke and seaweed and tar. Close to town is also the distilles of Cool Ila and Bunnahabhain, which rumored to play the main roles in several of the bottles.

From Port Askaig, the coastline of the nearby Isle of Jura can be skimped on a clear day, and it is this coastline that is the motive on the label of Port Askaig bottles.

The blender and decider Elixir Distillers are founded by the two bread sukhinder and Rajbir Singh, which is also behind the shop The Whiskey Exchange. They spend their great experience from virtually all corners of the spirits world to merge the traditional craft with an insatiable hunger after experimenting and renewing. The main focus is just destined at Scottish Whiskey, but also Japanese, Irish and American whiskey and Tequila and Rome have found their way down in Elixir Distillers’ beautifully designed bottles. Among the most remarkable brands we find Elements of Islay, Port Askaig, Single Malts of Scotland and Black Tot.

Originally called Specialty Drinks, and the name changed first to Elixir Distillers in 2017 – but if the two brothers blender and tap whiskey, where does then come “distiller” part in? Well, in 2018, the plans announced to build a new distillery on Islays south coast. The future looks light next to fans of smoke and peat!
