This truly remarkable Miyagikyo follows beautifully on the handful of rare peated single casks previously bottled at cask strength. More specifically, it stages a peat that knows just when to make itself known and when to stay in the background. Its charms, including an incredibly refreshing fruit, dazzling smoke and exciting richness.
A rich and complex scent. The character of the fragrance is first highlighted by subtle notes of toast, dry peat and twigs. When the peat is allowed to breathe, it becomes more intense, almost meatier, while it acquires a slightly smoky haze. in the fragrance’s climax, exotic fruits and fresh figs add plenty of breadth and energy to the palette of aromas.
The taste is stylish and dynamic. In the mouth it is as exotic as the scent, while revealing both honey and floral notes. As for the turf, it penetrates every nook and cranny. Covered by a fine layer of ash, the membrane is deeply rooted, giving the impression of a refreshing minerality.
The aftertaste is long and well balanced. At the beginning of the finish, chocolate, vanilla and spicy peat take center stage. Sour flavors of ripe fruit spread slowly over the taste buds. The empty glass reproduces a precise sensation of cigar, wild flowers and black licorice.
