Founded in 1988 by Andrew Brian Symington, Signatory Vintage is today a leading independent whiskey publisher and distributor.
Few people remember that Symingtons started with a capital of only PLN 100,000. pounds and during the first five years of operation they came close to bankruptcy several times. The name Signatory means Signatory. The Symingtons wanted to hire a famous person to sign each edition with their signature on the label. The first cask of whiskey in Signatory’s offering was Glenlivet 1968, but when the company found the right signatory, there was no trace of the whiskey. The Mortlach presented here, a 2012 distillation, aged over 11 years in ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, bottled in 2023 at 48.2% abv and without chill filtration with the designation Small Batch #1.
Aroma: raisins and raisins, black cherries, blood oranges, sponge cake, marzipan, honey, caramel, cocoa powder, notes of tobacco and leather.
Taste: vanilla, dark chocolate, caramel,
honey peanuts, cherries, plums, black pepper, nutmeg, a little sherry and oak.
Aftertaste: medium long, with notes of toffee, chocolate, raisins, dried apples, black pepper, traces of leather and oak tannins.
