AMERICAN WINERY OF THE YEAR 2020 – WINE ENTHUSIAST! The wine’s name “Lust” refers to Michael David’s flagship “7 Deadly Zins” – and perhaps the wine’s biggest sin is that the grapes come from Lodi, and has resulted in a sinfully delicious wine.
Good at:
Steak, cheese – strong, cheese – mild, veal
DELICIOUS AND FULL
“Lust” has a delicious full taste of ripe berries and a bit of vanilla and sweet caramel. On the palate, the fine tannins and spices from barrel aging are also noticeable. The wine has many facets and ends with a fine aftertaste.
Enjoy the wine with veal, spicy dishes or with a selection of cheeses.
Serving temperature: 16-18°C

“BEAUTIFUL AROMAS OF FRESH AND DRIED VIOLETS, FRESH BLACKBERRY, BLUEBERRY, AND BOYSENBERRY, BLACK-PLUM JAM, CHOCOLATE, VANILLA BEAN AND FLOWER AND TOASTED WOOD. THE PALATE CONFIRMS THE NOSE WITH AN INTEGRATION OF FLAVORS THAT INCORPORATE A DELICACY AND SUBTLE ELEGANCE TO THESE COMPONENT PARTS THAT COME TOGETHER IN A COHESIVE CRESCENDO AND LEAD TOWARD A LONG, LINGERING FINISH.”
Manufacturing
The Zinfandel grapes for the wine “Lust” are harvested from one of the fields that also supplies the grapes for Michael David’s famous flagship 7 Deadly Zins. In “Lust” the Zinfandel grapes are mixed with a bit of Petite Sirah grapes. This combination gives a wine with finesse and delicious fullness.
The quality of the grapes is far above average and the perfect climate makes for a fantastic harvest. Only very little rain, but on the other hand lots of warm days and cool nights during the harvest period produce super delicious wine.

Lust is one of the seven deadly sins, and this tiny-production wine from Michael David is a fitting adjunct to the winery’s Seven Deadly Zins offering. Spicy, perfumed oak aromas and equally spicy oak flavors accompany deep tones of black cherry and dark chocolate. The wine has a thick coating of tannins that helps support all the richness and elevated body.
