Norwegian Aquavit
Lysholm Line Double Cask is a fitted Norwegian aquavit. Twice, the aquavite crosses the equator in SherryFade aboard ships, and this “Extra Matured” edition complements the sherylag ring with a so-called “finish” on portvinsfade throughout 12 months. A right unique aquavit, where the spicy comnotes have entered the background and dish and fruit notes are allowed to share the limelight.
Color: Golden.
Fragrance: Prominent vanilla beds, dried fruit and oak.
Taste notes: soft and round, with lots of dark fruit and vanilla.
Serving suggestions: should be enjoyed clean, possibly. As AVEC after a good meal.
Lysholm is Norway’s Elder Akvavit brand. Most known is Lysholm for Line Aquavite, which continues it more than 200 years old tradition with the famous voyage. It reportedly started with a consigning aquavit, who came back from Australia after the buyer had gone bankrupt. When it returned home, the taste was so incredible that the journey was made mandatory. The aquavite is placed on dish, and sailed almost the ground around before returning home to Norway and tapped, now rounded and matured by several months to have sculpted around in the good sherry fade.
