Gordon & MacPhail’s gorgeous Distillery Labels are looking fantastic after their latest revamp and the strength has been increased to 46% – what’s not to love?

This Linkwood 15 Year Old is another of G&M’s specialties – a top class distillery that is rarely officially bottled as the vast majority of its production goes to owner Diageo’s blends.

Fortunately, Gordon & MacPhail’s long-standing relationships with distilleries mean they are able to get their hands on a supply of these casks – or even send their own casks to be filled with new make from the distillery and mature them in their own warehouses. This Linkwood 15 year old has seen a bit of sherry and should be absolutely delicious.

Nose

Fruity and fresh, dry sherry, ripe strawberry and raspberry aromas accentuated by a slight lemon-citrus edge. Tangy orange marmalade develops and combines with warm cinnamon and toffee.

Palate

Initially intensely sweet; softening with time and the gentle and warming spice flavors of cinnamon and cloves. Creamy white chocolate develops and intertwines with a juicy tangerine edge.

Exit

Medium and rounded with fresh herbal notes and a slightly drying cocoa powder edge.

Gordon & MacPhail are to the noble single malt what Lennon & McCartney are to pop music. For more than 100 years, they have insisted on jumping over where the fence is highest. The inherited sense of selecting the absolute best casks from a wide range of distilleries is practiced today as it was 100 years ago. Once the dish is selected, it is transported to G&M’s warehouse in Elgin. Here the cask is looked after and cared for along with thousands of other selected casks until that day in the future, be it five, ten or fifty years down the line, when the whiskey has reached its zenith. Only here are the precious drops bottled.
