Jean Daneel Signature Chenin Blanc is a refined and characterful white wine from South Africa, showcasing the best of old vines and traditional craftsmanship. Made from 100% handpicked Chenin Blanc grapes sourced from mature vineyards in the Overberg, Robertson, and Paarl regions, the wine reflects the unique terroir of the Western Cape’s cool climate and diverse soils.
Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, about 20% of which are new, followed by 12 months of barrel aging on fine lees with regular bâtonnage. This process gives the wine added richness, structure, and complexity. Natural malolactic fermentation rounds out the palate, contributing to a smooth and creamy texture.
On the nose, the wine reveals bright aromas of citrus, green apple, pineapple, dried apricot, honey, toasted almonds, and subtle vanilla oak. The palate is elegant and full-bodied, with a fresh acidity and a long, mineral-driven finish enhanced by delicate oak integration.
Jean Daneel Signature Chenin Blanc pairs beautifully with poultry, rich seafood like salmon or monkfish, shellfish, creamy pasta dishes, and mild cheeses. Serve slightly chilled at 6–8 °C.
